Fusing a kaleidoscope of lush melodies and soul-stirring lyrics, Niko Walters shares his intimate new single 'Vicious Love' via Universal Music New Zealand today. 'Vicious Love' is our first taste of new music from the triple-platinum-certified artist, following the release of his debut LP 'Escape' and #1 Airplay smash 'Not My Neighbour' in late 2020.
Co-written with frequent collaborators Ambian & Sleo, ‘Vicious Love’ is ripe with unapologetic honesty. Niko explains, "The song takes you through a co-dependent relationship that thrives off on drama and turbulence”. Laced with fluttering synths and stripped back acoustic guitar, 'Vicious Love' stands as one of Niko’s most intimate songs to date, capturing the intricacies of a complex relationship with the powerful lyrical flair that we've come to expect from Niko.
“The concept and lyrics for ‘Vicious Love’ came fairly suddenly after playing with some chords I had been trying out for a while” says Niko on the creation of the track. “There's a genuine love and deep care for one another, but heavy emotions and circumstances contaminate the relationship."
Accompanied with striking visuals from previous collaborator and ‘Not My Neighbour’ director Lance Savali, the music video for ‘Vicious Love’ takes the song to new heights.
Earlier this year, Niko debuted his collaboration with US R&B superstar Kiana Ledé and jumped on stage at SIX60's historic Eden Park show to perform to a crowd of 50,000.
