Volunteer firefighters in small-town Aotearoa go viral on TikTok for crack-up parody of car ad

Not the "fire-twuck".

Models and luxury cars move over, Kiwi firefighters and their firetruck are the new sexy.

Tūrangi’s fire brigade, made up of local volunteers, is going viral on TikTok for a crack-up parody of a Bentley advertisement. In the original ad, a blonde model is showing off the luxury car while whispering “Bentley” into a microphone.

In the Tūrangi firefighters' TikTok - which amassed nearly 800k views and over 130k likes - one firefighter shows off their firetruck while another lies down, whispers “Fire-twuck” and stares into the camera with a dreamy look and swinging legs.

Commenters love the energy from the fellas and are even lowkey impressed with the modelling quality.

“I wasn’t in the market but you’ve convinced me, I will now buy a firetruck,” one person wrote.

“The fireman did it better,” said another. “He had unexpected positions!”.

“You win the internet for today,” a third added.

“You now have me walking around the house whispering ‘fire-twuck’ for no reason,” one more wrote.

After they posted another TikTok that went viral (which features them dancing and acting up in the station), Peter Hanne, the chief officer, told Stuff the community has been sending them loads of love.

“We’ve been getting lots of messages of support,” he said. “That’s from local people connecting with our fire brigade but also from around the world.”

He added that while the videos are a good laugh, he hopes the videos can lead to more locals volunteering to be a firefighter.

“It takes a big team. There are not a lot of stations that aren't struggling for volunteers, and we always need more.”

“It’s about engaging and being able to reach people in a way that they want to be reached,” he added.

Any workplace where you can out-model real models seems like a mean place to clock in.
