‘I’ve never even felt the wind right there’: Jason Momoa cuts off his dreads for a good cause

"Here's to new beginnings."

Jason Momoa has just switched up his whole look after shaving his iconic, luscious locks, but it wasn’t for nothing.

The 43-year-old ‘Aquaman’ star posted a close-up selfie video of him in the middle of a haircut on his Instagram. Immediately, you can notice a lack of makawe on the sides of his head.

He greets his 17 million followers with an “Aloha everyone” before asking someone to “hand me those braids”, then showing off two of his cut-off braids to the camera.

He then went on to say he shaved his hair to help save the planet by drawing attention to the amount of rubbish in our oceans and on our lands.

“I'm tired of these plastic bottles, we gotta stop. Plastic forks, all that s**t. S**t goes into our land, goes into our ocean,” he said.

“The things in our ocean, it's just so sad. So, please, anything you can do to eliminate single-use plastics in your life. Help me."

The ‘Fast and Furious' actor explained more in the caption, encouraging people to spread love to planet Earth.

“Here's to new beginnings. Let’s spread the aloha, be better at protecting our land and oceans.”

“We need to cut single-use plastics out of our lives and out of our seas. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils all of it. Let’s aloha our ‘āina [land] together”.

Momoa hasn’t shared a photo of the new buzzcut - he might be a bit nervous ay? - but we’re sure once he does, there will be an increase in blokes with shaved heads around the world.

Shoutout to Jason for having the kahunas to chop off the hair that many people have come to recognise him by, but even more so for championing a great, important cause.
