He Rei Niho was inspired by a reo Māori wānanga, Jordyn recounts. "My kaiako was talking about celebrating our Māori-ness to the absolute fullest! So, I brought that energy into a writing session with some incredible songwriters, Ruth Smith, Kawiti Waetford and our producer Dan Martin".
He Rei Niho originated as a wānanga meets 'pop funk' kind of track! "As an urban Māori girl who grew up in South Auckland and has been on a journey to reconnect to my roots in Whāingaroa, ‘He Rei Niho’ is a full send celebration of my identity, my story, my journey and my future".
