Both halves of one of hip-hop’s most beloved power couples have confirmed they're back together in a hella cute way.
Nelly and Ashanti, who started dating twenty years ago before breaking up a decade later, are back on.
At this past week’s VMAs, which Nelly was opening, Ashanti was holding a clutch with an old photo of the two of them printed on it.
“I just thought it was cute,” she told E! News. “Not a huge deal. This was the picture we took twenty years ago at the VMAs in ‘03. So I thought ‘this might be cute’.”
When the interviewer asked if the two are back together, she said: “I mean… yeah!”
It seems the news has gotten Nelly himself all lovey-dovey.
When asked if he and his old flame were back together, the ‘Dilemma’ hitmaker confirmed the news as he cracked up and blushed.
“Yeah,” he said on the ‘Boss Moves with Rasheeda’ podcast. “We cool again. I think it surprised both of us.”
“It wasn’t anything that was planned - we were both pretty much doing what we do. But, sometimes being separate, you understand one another more.”
“You know, we all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships - we know we're wrong but we are gonna stand on it. We all fall victim to that.”
“There’s no pressure anymore. Before, both of us were doing what we doing career-wise. When you got so many people in the middle of it, it can be tough.”
Ashanti even commented: “Heyyyyyy bighead,” on an Instagram clip of the above podcast moment, so you know it’s really real.
