T-Pain wows with real voice on heaps of covers by Montell Jordan, Sam Cooke and Black Sabbath

'I'm N Luv' with a stripp...ed down ballad!

We all know T-Pain for his excessive use of auto-tune, but what if I told you his natural voice is actually crazy good?

T-Pain has opted to show off his real singing voice for his latest project, 'On Top Of The Covers', breaking away from his signature Auto-Tune sound.

The singer recently released his seventh studio album full of covered tracks from big hitters Sam Cooke, Sam Smith, Journey, Montell Jordan, and Black Sabbath. He also features artist NandoSTL who duetted with him on the Frank Sinatra song ‘That’s Life’.

A fan of the singer took to TikTok to share all of the best covers you need to hear today, and oof, it’s hard to pick a fave.

T Pain has been attacked for years by critics and fellow musicians for what they believed was his lack of ability to sing.

However, in recent years that criticism has faded as his real voice has continued to shine through.

The singer recently revealed to Rolling Stone that the covers project has been years in the making.

The project began back in 2019 after T-Pain won 'The Masked Singer' for covering songs from the likes of Montell Jordan, Joan Jett, and Sam Smith.

“This covers album has been years in the making. I started recording this right after I won The Masked Singer,” he said.

“It got put on hold for a bit but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time.”

While he plans to switch up his sound for a while, T-Pain acknowledges that auto-tune is what led him to success and has always been a big money maker for him.
