Snoop Dogg welcomed to Aotearoa with passionate pōwhiri after arriving in AKL on private jet

D-O double G is officially in the country!

Snoop Dogg has officially landed in NZ ahead of his two ‘I Wanna Thank Me’ shows in Ōtautahi and Tāmaki Makaurau this weekend.

After landing by private jet at around 8pm last night, the rapper was greeted with a pōwhiri before sharing a hongi with members of the haka.

After the welcoming had finished, Snoop being the legend that he is, took a pic with the rōpū showing off his best pūkana.

While interacting with the group, Snoop showed his genuine interest and care in everyone who attended his arrival, but there was one interaction that stuck out the most.

Haka member, Isiah Noble, told Stuff: “It didn’t feel like real life.”

Admitting he was a little shy meeting the big D-O double G rapper, Isiah explained how Snoop made sure he lived in the moment.

“You’re already here, no need to be shy now,” Snoop said before snapping a pic.

If you didn’t already know, Snoop Dogg is performing at Orange Theory Stadium in Ōtautahi tonight before making his way up to Tāmaki Makaurau to play at The Trusts Arena.

Special guests for the tour include rappers Warren G, Obie Trice and hip-hop collective D12.
