Jonathan Majors tells Mai Morning Crew he used Kobe’s mentality to become next Ant-Man villain

He also reckons he could whoop Thanos.

Jonathan Majors is playing the big bad guy Kang The Conqueror in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania’ and he chatted with the Mai Morning Crew about what it takes to prepare yourself to be a villain, and whether or not Kang could beat up ol’ Thanos.

When Tegan asked Jonathan how he prepares for being a villain, he said you gotta act like the one and only Kobe Bryant.

“You first have to listen to heavy metal music, move into a cave, buy a cape,” he said. Aye? Kobe was a beast but he didn’t do any of that. “No, none of that,” Majors cleared up, phew.

“I see you got Kobe on the wall there. Kobe is definitely a hero, a real hero. Something Kobe would know is you must know the opponent,” Jonathan said.

“I’m pretty sure those playing Kobe Bryant were very afraid. Hopefully as afraid of him as the Avengers will be of Kang. Because you have to know the opponent.”

“I looked at Ant-Man and said ‘okay, I see what you’re working with’. How do I combat that, how do I antagonise that with my frequency?” Jonathan added. Yup, that sounds like Kobe’s black mamba mindset.

Mr Majors then made a massive call on who would win in a “prison rules” fight between Kang the Conqueror and the one and only Thanos.

“It could be recess rules and it’d be Kang. It could be hospital rules and it’d be Kang. What did you think I was gonna say?!” he said before clearing up that he’s a fan of the big purple guy that almost beat the Avengers.  “I love Thanos, I just love him. However, I am Kang. Just can’t have it.”

See if Jonathan Majors is capping or not about Kang in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania’. Out in Aotearoa cinemas on the 15th of February.
