‘What do you say?’: Steven Adams goes viral for teaching young US fan some manners

The big man(ners).

Steven Adams is going viral once again, this time for teaching a young fan at one of his games how to use manners.

Adams was walking off the court after a game (most likely after his Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Brooklyn Nets earlier this week) when a young fan in the stands filmed himself calling Steve to ask for his autograph.

“Steven Adams. Wanna sign my hat?” the kid said.

“No,” the big Kiwi responded, before nudging him in the right direction. “What do you say? What do you say?”

The kid got the idea, finally saying “please” before Steve reached up and signed his hat.

That’s one great Kiwi right there.

Comments on the TikTok were in full support of Steve, as Americans usually are.

“Steven Adams is a real one,” commented one person.

“What a legend,” said another.

“A boy wants to be a MAN, a MAN wants to be STEVEN ADAMS,” added one more.

“He’s been raised right, chur,” a fourth wrote.

About a month ago, Steven Adams wore a microphone while playing against the Sacramento Kings, and the results are golden. He starts off screaming Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Suiiii’ celebration, as well as speaking Spanish and laughing at a fan’s Halloween costume.

Adams is a centre for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Grizzlies are doing alright this NBA season, currently sitting at 8th in the Western Conference with 10 wins and 8 losses.

They lost their most recent game, also against the Kings. Steve played 30 minutes and picked up 16 rebounds and five points in that time.

Their next game is against the in-form New Orleans Pelicans who currently sit at third in the Western Conference and are looking formidable, having won five of their last six games. One of those games was a win against Steve’s Grizzlies.

The NZ basketball legend is going to need more than just manners to beat those Pelicans.
