A group of teens are going viral after performing a wero so their mate could leave the house

Aunty was hard to convince

A group of Kiwi teens are going viral after performing a wero for their mate's aunty who wouldn’t let her out with her friends.

Posted to Tiktok by @Te_Atakohu, the hilarious clip has gained 257k views and 68k likes in just over a week.

In the clip, the group of six teens approach from the driveway performing ‘Toia Mai’ as their wero.

Their tokens of choice included a large road cone, a school certificate, some rau from a bush down the road and a rather flashy trophy.

Although aunty had a good giggle at the kids' expense she stood firm on her decision not to let her out.

“Sorry, guys she’s still not going… Love the effort, A for effort!”

But that’s not where it ends. Nope, the teens were dedicated to their mission and started begging.

“Surely whaea, we planned this whole thing,” said one of the boys before another chimed in by assuring aunty of the plans and time they will have their friend home.

Finally giving in big boss aunty says, “don’t ring me for a ride.”

That’s a successful mission in my books!

It’s the “ka kite” and sprint at the end for me though - they knew it wouldn’t take much for aunty to change her mind again.

The comment section was flooded with praise for the young group's efforts with one writing: “Loveee this. How can u say no after that? Well played and what an awesome bunch of friends.”

Another agreed: “What a vibe of friends u have. They’re the forever type right there.”

A third reckons this is a usual occurrence: “Whaea seems so used to this like she’s not surprised in yous AT ALL.”

I mean, the mana and the mahi put into it paid off though, so maybe I need to try this next time my mates want me to come out.
