A movie is being made about Dennis Rodman’s trip to Las Vegas in the middle of the NBA Finals

"There was nobody on Earth who’d be more fun - or maybe dangerous - to party with."

Lionsgate is producing a movie about Dennis Rodman’s infamous Las Vegas bender in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals. The film will be appropriately titled ‘48 Hours In Vegas’.

Nathan Kahane, the president of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group said Rodman is a great subject for a movie because of how unique, entertaining, and just overall ‘life-of-the-party’ he is.

“There’s only one Dennis Rodman,” he told Deadline. “In 1998, there was nobody on Earth who’d be more fun - or maybe dangerous - to party with. And yet that’s not even half of who he is.”

“This movie takes you on an unforgettable ride with the myth, the legend, and also the man that Dennis is, behind everything you know,” he continued.

“We could not be more thrilled to be working with… Dennis, whose amazing career and life will make for an off-the-wall hilarious yet completely human and emotional movie. You think you know anything about ‘The Worm’? Just you wait!”

The story of Rodman, AKA ‘The Worm’, heading to Vegas was something of a legend/wives tale during the 90s, but it was confirmed and became common knowledge in 2020, when everyone was in lockdown watching ‘The Last Dance’.

Jordan remembered the incident clearly. He recalled how Dennis had been on his best behaviour while Scottie Pippen was out of action, and that best behaviour was too much for Dennis to handle.

So, Rodman went to Phil and MJ to request a vacation.

The Bulls, of course, went on to win the 1998 NBA Finals, which ended with Michael Jordan’s iconic game-winner to secure his sixth, and final, NBA Championship Trophy.

No release date for the movie has been announced, but we’ll make sure to let you know.
