Video of kapa haka group's te reo rendition of an Adele hit goes viral

A performance even the great Adele would be proud of.

Tāmaki Herenga Waka, Herenga Tāngata Hakangahau went down over the weekend, bringing together nine of our cities best and brightest kapa haka teams.

Featuring acts such as Kura Tuarua and Kaumatua, to the top five groups who were looking to sharpen their bracket ahead of next year's Te Matatini competition.

Local group 'Angitu' have been turning heads online ever since they performed a powerful kapa haka rendition of Adele's track 'Easy On Me' as their Whakawatea, which featured an incredible solo by Awatea Wihongi.

Posted by Whakaata Māori, the video has over 125K views on Facebook alone, with hundreds of comments all reveling in the pure majesty of the vocal performances.

We're not sure if she's seen it yet, but this is one rendition that would certainly make Adele proud.
