Kevin Hart gives update on how Will Smith's feeling four months after the Oscars slap

"People are human and as humans sometimes we make mistakes."

It’s been almost four months since Will Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock in the face at the Academy Awards, and in that time, Kevin Hart says that Smith has improved on himself.

Talking to ET at the premiere of his latest movie ‘DC League of Super-Pets’, the comedian said the ‘I Am Legend’ actor is sorry for his actions but is feeling better.

“People are human and as humans sometimes we make mistakes," he said.

"So it’s not about talking about the past, it’s about acknowledging the present and doing your best to move forward.”

He did admit that Rock and Smith have not squashed the beef yet, but that he wishes they would.

“I can get only hope that the two of them find a way to find some solace in that and move past it,” he shared. “I just like good energy. I love to see people be the best.”

“I still love him, I still love Chris,” he continued. “Ultimately, life goes on and people grow, so give him the opportunity to do so.”

Will Smith did apologise to Rock via an Instagram post a couple of days after the incident, but, as Hart confirmed, there have been no reports of the two meeting in person and having a heart-to-heart.

Jada Pinkett Smith said in a 'Red Table Talk' episode at the beginning of last month that she wishes that Rock and Smith would have a chat about the incident and restore their friendship.

"My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconicle," she told viewers.
