Tom Scott and the Avantdale Bowling Club crew cleaned up at the VNZMAs last night, taking out Album of the Year and Best Hip Hop Artist.
But it was his acceptance speech that has caught the most attention, with the Kiwi hip-hop legend taking aim at Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who was also in attendance.
Accepting the award for best hip hop artist, Scott made a specific note to say: "Jacinda Ardern should go to Ihumātao!"
Unfortunately the moment was not televised, as it featured during an ad break.
The call itself is a reference to the long-held occupation of Ihumātao in Auckland, in a bid to protect the land from a housing development planned by Fletcher Building.
Occupation organisers have been calling for the PM to head to the frontlines for months, but Ardern is yet to visit.
