September 13th will forever be marked as the day the world lost an icon, but 22 years on, Tupac Shakur is more omnipresent than ever.
The "Can't C Me" rapper's tragic death was the result of a violent disagreement on the night of September 7th, 1996 following a Mike Tyson boxing match in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Shakur was shot numerous times in a drive-by confrontation and immediately rushed to the hospital where eventually, his life-support was turned off by his mother.
Actress and best-friend, Jada Pinket Smith, took to Instagram to dedicate a post to the late rapper, which speaks volumes for not only to his illustrious life but to their strong friendship.
The pair met as teens while at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Maryland. Jada says that she knew they were gonna be good friends as early as their first encounter:
“It was the first day and he came over to me and introduced himself... As soon as he approached me, he was like a magnet. Once you paid attention to him he kind of sucked you in. And we hit it off from that moment on."
Today, we remember an icon, a trail-blazer, and for some, a good friend.
