Six60 have celebrated the start of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2020 by sharing a Te Reo performance of one of their hits with a kapa haka group from their sold out Western Springs show earlier this year.

The band shared the video of 'Kia Mau Ki Tō Ūkaipō / Don't Forget Your Roots' live from Western Springs 2020 on their Facebook page on Monday morning, jogging the memory of fans who saw it in person and delighting those who hadn't seen it before.

The Dunedin six-piece was flanked by members of the Ngā Tūmanako kapa haka group, who performed a stirring haka composed by Te Rauparaha, a chief of Ngāti Toa Rangatira.

Frontman Matiu Waters joined the haka interlude while his bandmates continued to play the tune of the chart-topping track in the background.

Fans on the Six60 Facebook page reported getting "happy goosebump vibes" and even being brought to tears by the performance, with many who had missed out on tickets saying they were grateful to get to see this part of the show.

"Shivers down my spine," one Facebook user commented, while another insisted it was "hands down the best part of the show".

"From a Kiwi living abroad I just wanted to say thanks so much for sharing, such remarkable talent," wrote a third.
