Mai is stoked to support Te Matatini and their 50th anniversary! To mark the 50 golden years, Te Matatini are releasing an album, a book and a web series celebrating 50 years of kapa haka and the Festival.
A one-of-a-kind project that has been supported by a project team including kapa haka legends Robert Ruha, Tangiwai Ria and Trevor Maxwell! Rising haka stars Pere Wihongi, Ricky Mitai and Dixie Yates-Frances, plus heaps more are getting amongst.
The TM50 releases kick off, Thursday the 14th of April at 7pm with the live launch via www.maoritelevision.com, with a new song dropping every weekday alongside webisodes showing BTS footage of the song's production.

Te Matakāinga – one waiata from each of the 13 Te Matatini rohe re-recorded in haka format by the TM50 group of kaihaka from across the motu.
4 May - 19 May
Te Matakōkiri – 12 waiata from across the 50 years of the Festival re-recorded in production format by Māori artists.
20 May - 24 June
Te Matatoa – 25 remastered original waiata selected by Ngā Toa Whakaihuwaka of each of the last 24 festivals.
Since its inception, the Te Matatini National Kapa Haka Festival has grown into a premier world-class event which stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the largest and most unique cultural festivals of the world. An expression of its artistic growth since 1972, the TM50 project builds on the legacy kapa haka fans have enjoyed over the last five decades.
