Auckland Art Gallery has just announced a virtual tour for Enchanted Worlds and te reo Māori translations and audio guides!

Forced to close five days early when Auckland suddenly moved into Level 3 lockdown, this new immersive and interactive online experience will allow people all over the country (and beyond!) to access this enchanting exhibition.

You can check out the new features in high-res, with 360-degree renderings of Enchanted Worlds via this website. (There's even a VR option!)
You can pick up to three different tours:

  1. Whānau tour with fun facts and art-making activities
  2. Curator's highlight tour, covering insights and stories on the Edo-period poetry, music, theatre, fashion and visual arts
  3. In-depth exhibition experience with extended artwork labels

Using the navigation tools, you can virtually walk through the gallery without being there. The te reo Māori virtual tour audio was voiced by Radio Waatea producer Ellyce McLeod.

Enchanted Worlds: Hokusai, Hiroshige and the Art of Edo Japan is the first exhibition to premiere original paintings by leading artists of Japan's Edo period (1603-1868).
