The Warehouse now has a range of hearty frozen meals to feed the whole whānau for only $20

Surely these slap!

The Warehouse has officially launched its own frozen meal range which could come in clutch when you’re in need of some kai.

The Market Kitchen frozen dishes lineup includes 1.5kg beef cottage pie, 1.5kg smokey bacon mac and cheese, and 1.2 kg traditional beef lasagne. They’re $20 each, which isn’t bad for a hefty meal.

The big red shed says they aim to pack enough into each meal to feed the whole whānau - and they’re all made in NZ.

The three ready-made meal options have just launched in Dunedin at the Warehouse’s Hillside Road spot, and were first trialled at the Auckland Manukau store.

The store’s Grocery Lead Ryan Murphy reckons the meals will be a hit among “busy families” and “students looking to fuel their study session”.

“We’re expecting these frozen ready-made meals to be hugely popular in Dunedin,” he said, “as an increasing number of Kiwis choose to shop with us as they search for affordable everyday essentials.”

“Grocery sales now make up one-fifth of The Warehouse's total sales across the motu, reflecting a growing preference among Kiwi families for our affordable groceries.”

If his predictions do come true, Ryan said the rest of Aotearoa can expect to have the ready-to-go meals at their local Ware Whare.

“If this trial goes well, we’ve got plans to expand our fresh and frozen ranges further across Dunedin and Otago.”

The move comes about a year after The Warehouse started selling fresh fruit and vegetables and other essential groceries.

I’m all for a frozen meal when you don’t have time for dinner (or you just can’t be bothered cooking). Hopefully, Warehouse ones slap and they can be stashed in the freezer of any Kiwi who wants ‘em.
