Chance The Rapper donates $1mil to schools in his hometown

Chance The Rapper announced on Monday that he is going to donate $1 million to Chicago Public Schools while also urging the Illinois's (his home state) government to come through with more spending on public education.

“Today, I’m proud to announce that I’m donating $1 million to CPS to support arts and arithmetics programming,” the rapper said as a roomful of students’ faces lit up and applause broke out.

Chance said the donation was made possible from ticket sales for his upcoming tour.

Michelle Obama took the time to thank Chance for giving back to Chicago and its education system.
