Former Kiwi centre Steve Matai has been revealed as the high-profile NRL player who had his phone seized by police, according to Seven News Australia.
Investigators are looking at three games in question which all involve Manly, Matai's club.
Matai has played 230 games for the Sea Eagles since his debut in 2005, but was limited to eight games this year as he battles a potentially career ending neck injury.
Part of the 2008 World Cup winning Kiwi side, Matai hasn't played for New Zealand since 2010, with a lack of on field discipline thought to be a leading reason for selection cold shoulder.
