Rap icon DMX has been in hospital since last Friday following a heart attack that was reportedly caused by a drug overdose, and reports say that the rapper is yet to regain brain function.
TMZ has reported that DMX's family is currently faced with the painful decision of whether or not to take his life support off. The 50-year-old legend underwent a number of tests on Wednesday, which showed zero improvement in brain activity since he was first rushed to hospital.
X's manager Steve Rifkind is meant to fly to New York on Friday after he previously told TMZ that Wednesday’s tests would be key to the decision that the family is expected to make.
Upon admission to hospital, sources said DMZ was in a "vegetative state" after his brain was deprived of oxygen for as long as an hour. It's a tragic twist in a career-long battle with substance abuse that stretches back to the 90's, which includes a stint in rehab back in 2019.
