Yesterday, the legend that is Taika Waititi took home his first ever Oscar for "Best Adapted Screenplay" for his mahi on Jojo Rabbit.
The boy from the East Coast has grown up to become one of the most celebrated filmmakers in Hollywood, and there he was representing Aotearoa on the world stage.
Good friend Mark Ruffalo, who worked with Taika on Thor: Ragnarok, managed one of the sweetest Instagram posts of the evening with his tribute to the director alongside a snap of the pair sharing a hongi.
"Congratulations, @taikawaititi, on a historic win at the #Oscars. Thanks for another beautiful film," he wrote in the caption, where he included the dedication Taika made to the "indigenous kids" of the world in his acceptance speech.
