San Diego Comic-Con was in full swing over the weekend, and unsurprisingly, Marvel's panel in Hall H has everybody talking
Studio top dog Kevin Fiege announced the plans for phase 4 of Marvel's ridiculously popular film franchise, with a number of movies and TV series already in the pipeline.
Projects such as the Eternals, Black Widow, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Shang-Chi, Loki, and a new Doctor Strange movie were among some of the titles offered up by the Marvel boss.
But it's the Mahershala Ali-led Blade reboot that captured most fans' attention, with the Oscar winning actor looking to don the black leather trench coat most famously worn by Wesley Snipes.
"He's the perfect Blade because he's one of the greatest actors working today," Kevin Feige said of the two-time Oscar winner. "He's a huge fan of our universe and of the character and he's going to destroy the part."
Feige added that it only took a few conversations with Ali for the studio to feel comfortable casting him as Blade:
"It's a dream," Feige said. "It's the kind of dream casting you almost don't dare to dream that you could actually do it. But, we had a couple of meetings with him and decided very quickly 'let's do this.'"
