A beautiful video shared with Newshub has shown two cultures coming together in celebration.

In the footage, the family of the bride performs a powerful haka while at a traditional Indian wedding in Amritsar, India.

Te Rau, the brother of the bride, told Newshub the decision to perform the haka at the wedding was spur of the moment.

"It was definitely a last-minute decision," he said, "but that's our culture, and we'd embraced their culture for the last three days.

"For us, it was just to give that haka and celebrate the way that we know."

Te Rau says the haka holds a special place in his family's heart.

"That haka was written by my father - he's been gone for a while now."

His sister was unaware her family were going to perform, but Te Rau says it just felt right to do it

"I think it was exactly what she wanted. It was just the right thing to do to send her off [on her honeymoon]."
