Roman Reigns announces he has beaten cancer for a second time

WWE superstar Roman Reigns is back in the ring after body slamming cancer.

Reigns, real name Joe Anoi'i, stepped away from the world of sports entertainment in October after the leukemia he battled and beat a decade ago returned.

But the 'Big Dog' returned to WWE programming on Tuesday (NZT) announcing to the world that he was in remission.

One of the most polarising figures in the WWE Universe, there was unanimous appreciation for Reigns and his life fight with the jam-packed crowd in Atlanta, Georgia applauding and cheering the 33-year-old throughout the 20-minute segment on WWE Raw.

"You've heard it and seen it with me, I’m a bit of a polarising character at times," Reigns told WWE.com.

"Just to see everybody put away their opinion and critiques and just putting love behind it, it was awesome.

"I'll never forget it.

"And I'll always feel like that's my family out there.

"The way that they supported me, the way that they had my back.

"It was like,'We can pick on this guy sometimes but nobody else can, including cancer'.

"It was really nice to see everybody rally behind me and then to kind of crescendo it tonight.

"That was the cherry on top."

Reigns is now expected to play a major role in WWE's build to WrestleMania 35 in April.
