90's kids rejoice! Everyone's favourite basketball movie is getting a sequel, and filming is about to kick off in a few months. The sequel will be lead by none other than King James himself, taking up the mantle left by Michael Jordan in the 1996 original. During an All-Star weekend interview, Lebron confirmed that filming will commence in summer (US time).
The OG film followed MJ teaming up with the Looney Tunes characters to battle the Monstas in a game of basketball. Despite it not neccesarily being a critical success, the film has become a cultural landmark for 90's kids and basketball fans alike.
In September 2018, SpringHill Entertainment, which was co-founded by James, announced that Ryan Coogler, the acclaimed Get Out director, has signed on to produce the sequel, with Random Acts of Flyness creator Terence Nance confirmed as the project's director.
