Cardi B had a historical moment at the Grammys last night, becoming the first female solo rapper to win Best Rap Album. The Bronx native had a meteoric rise to fame last year after dropping her ridiculously popular album Invasion of Privacy, which saw her dominate charts around the world.
The Best Rap Album category was stacked with some of the years strongest projects: Pusha T's Daytona, Nipsey Hussle's Victory Lap, Travis Scott's Astroworld, and the late-Mac Miller's Swimming. Cardi accepted the award with her hubby (kinda?) Offset by her side, and made sure to thank everyone that made her rise to fame possible.
She continued that gratitude after the ceremony, dedicating her award to the late Mac Miller and his family who were in attendance at the award. Reports late last year claimed Mac Miller's parents were hoping Cardi would win the Grammy if their son didn't take the award home posthumously. After learning of their wishes, Cardi made sure to show love to the late rapper and his family for their support.
She posted a screenshot of the article with the caption, "WE WON A FUCKIN GRAMMY."
In a video she posted to her IG after winning the award, Cardi showed love to Mac and his family: "I read an article that Mac Miller family said that if he don't win, they want me to win so I'm sharing this Grammy with you motherfucker!! Rest in peace!" She said.
