Lorde is demanding her former idol Kanye West and Kid Cudi stop stealing, after the pair performed on a stage set-up with a centerpiece strikingly similar to her Coachella 2017 design.
The 'Royals' hitmaker posted a series of photos to her Instagram Story of the rappers performing over the weekend in an elevated, rectangular tank hanging over the stage, along with photos of her performance from last year.
"I'm proud of the work I do and it's flattering when other artists feel inspired by it, to the extent that they choose to try it on themselves," Lorde says in print over her final photo.
"But don't steal - not from women or anyone else - not in 2018 or ever."
Kanye and Kid Cudi were performing as Kids See Ghosts at the Camp Flog Naw festival in Los Angeles.
In an interview with The Spinoff in April, 2017, Lorde talked about wanting to create "something we hadn't seen" with stage designer Es Devlin being.
"It's hard to come up with stuff that feels new, and with the tank it felt weird and interesting and quite specific to me," Lorde told The Spinoff.
"And it's also enough of a canvas that we can continue to switch up with how we interact with that piece of gear, so it was appealing to me for those reasons."
Lorde has long cited Kanye as an inspiration and has covered some of his tracks at her concerts.
She first met the 'Gold Digger' rapper when she was aged 16, when both were in London to perform on the talk show Later... With Jools Holland. During their encounter, Kanye revealed he was a fan of the Kiwi singer.
"He said he liked the messages [in my songs], which was cool," Lorde told Rolling Stone.
"I was saying to myself, 'Keep cool. This is normal.'"
During the US jaunt of her recent Melodrama tour, Lorde played homage to Kanye while performing in his hometown of Chicago.
She performed an acapalla version of his song 'Love Lockdown', and a piano-assisted 'Runaway'.
"It must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye West," she told the audience at the time.
