It was reported today that Henry Cavill is hanging up the cape and spandex after 5 years of playing the Man of Steel.
Rumours about a potential replacement have also started doing the rounds, with Black Panther star Michael B Jordan sitting at the top of the speculation list.
Reports say that movie studio Warner Bros. 'has been mulling a completely different direction with its Superman canon for some time.'
It wouldn't be the first time Jordan has played a spandex-clad hero, after he played the Human Torch in the latest Fantastic Four film. He also famously played villain 'Erik Killmonger' in the cutlural landmark film Black Panther.
Any potential casting would be 'down the road' however, as Warner Bros. is currently focusing all their creative efforts on a Supergirl film.
Though Cavill's departure was widely reported, Warner Bros. wasn't confirming or denying any news about the franchise.
They released a statement that explained: 'While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged,'
