Ella Mai the second woman to ever reach 15 weeks at #1 on R&B/Hip-Hop chart

Headlines 28/09/2018

Apart from sharing our awesome name, Ella Mai has a lot going for her right now.

Her single 'Boo'd Up'  has just reached a music milestone according to Billboard, being the second woman ever to have a number one single for 15 weeks straight on the R&B/Hip-Hop airplay charts. You go girl!

'Boo'd Up' is now equal with Mary J. Blige's 2005 song 'Be Without You' which also managed 15 weeks. Mai and Blige are the only two females to reach the milestone, while Drake also made 15 weeks back in 2015-16 with 'Hotline Bling'. Miguel holds the record though when he made 23 weeks on the charts with 'Adorn' back in 2012-13.

Maybe her newest single 'Trip' will reach the same success, now that all the drama with Jacquees has settled! (His remix of Trip was removed from all platforms this week as it was reportedly gaining more traction than the original.)
