5-year-old Zachary got the best birthday surprise after his plan actually worked.

Unbeknownst to his mum, Zachary from Auckland dialled 111 on his parents phone with the innocent request of inviting the police to his birthday party. He rang a couple of times, but never quite got the message across which prompted a concerned 111 call reciever to call the number back, of which she got Zachary's mum.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. That was my nearly five-year-old son, he was just telling me that he wanted to invite police to his police-themed fifth birthday party. I didn't realise he was going to phone through!" said his mum.

The pair laughed about it and the call-taker said "I don't know if we'll be able to make but it but I'll put it in."

And best part is, the police were able to make it. Surprising Zachary and his friends with the full monty. The day was captured on film by the NZ Police and showed the kids climbing on police cars, playing with handcuffs, waving at the Eagle helicopter circling above, and Zachary blowing out the candle on his police-themed cake.

Tino pai NZ Police - so awesome to see!
