Kiwi weightlifter David Liti wins gold smashing the world record at the Commonwealth Games

Sport 10/04/2018

As a 21 year old, David Liti is showing us how it's done in the men's 105kg-plus class

He smashed the record after lifting a total of 403kg and nailing a 229kg clean and jerk on his final attempt.

Liti's humbleness shows through after breaking the record:

I came in just being happy with whatever I came out with and didn't really expect the gold medal. Really proud.

I came into the competition telling myself I was going to have fun. It's my first Commonwealth Games and I don't want to mess that up.

We're proud of you David, you've done us proud.
