'Goosebumps': Kiwi fellas go viral sending their mate to the Philippines with 'powerful' haka

“I can hear all your ancestors with you it's full-on power."

A group of Kiwi fellas are going viral after performing a powerful haka for their mate who’s heading on a journey overseas to the Philippines.

Posted to Tiktok by @userr.nikau back in December with the caption “sending off the bro”, the clip gained 120.8K views and 14k likes in less than a month.

Now, the video is going viral all over again after it was reposted by @maoriworldwide on Instagram.

The clip from @maoriworldwide was posted yesterday with a caption appreciating the haka, calling it a “powerful haka send-off”.

Many of the comments on the Instagram post were incredibly respectful, appreciating the beauty of the haka, which is heartwarming given some of the recent views about Māori culture and language that have come to light in Aotearoa in the last year.

“I can hear all your ancestors with you it's full-on power,” one commenter wrote. “So amazing!! Goosebumps.”

“I just can't help but get goosebumps every single time I see/ hear a HAKA !!! I SO RESPECT the energy and the Māori!!!”

“Very powerful to anyone that's not even from this culture it's very moving and when u understand the words it's even more powerful,” wrote one more.

“This gives me a beautiful feeling,” is another comment on the post.

It’s awesome to see all the love towards our culture from those unfamiliar with it.
