The Warehouse has released a free te reo Māori christmas story online

'Te tōmina kirihimete o Nigel'

As we head into the most festive month of the year what better way to spread a bit of Christmas cheer and gather the whānau around for a wā kōrero?

The Warehouse is celebrating the festive season with Christmas story time and is releasing the tale of ‘Nigel’s Christmas Wish’ (Te tōmina kirihimete o Nigel).

Nigel the nutcracker only has one wish and that is to sit loud and proud atop the Christmas tree. The spot that is usually reserved for an angel or a star has become the ultimate goal of our nutcracker friend.

Christmas Wish’, is a free online storybook created by The Warehouse in two languages, English and te reo Māori.

The digital book also includes an optional narration feature that allows readers to relax while listening to Kara Rickard's beautiful voice.

Jonathan Waecker, The Warehouse's Chief Customer and Sales Officer said:

“With the holiday season upon us, we know Christmas books are being dusted off ready for storytime. We wanted to make this Christmas a little more festive for all Kiwis with an all-new, free digital Christmas book.

“We hope that spending time together reading Nigel’s story as a family may just be the start of a new Christmas tradition in many Kiwi households.”

Nigel’s Christmas Wish was written by Veronica Copestake and illustrated by Joseph Qiu and Pawel Zawislak from Watermark.
