LMFAO kicked off the show with a performance of their hit song "Party Rock Anthem" to get the crowd excited and into full "shuffling" mode. A dancing zebra also joined the band on stage, and yes they stripped down to their undies to do their famous ‘Wiggle,Wiggle,Wiggle’ “Party Rock Anthem” won the award for Hot 100 Song of the Year and the group also won Top Duo/Group.
Hosts of the night were Julie Bowan and Ty Burrell from the hit TV show Modern dad.
Justin Bieber took home the award for best social artist for the second consecutive year; he also got up later on in the show to perform his brand new single ‘Boyfriend’.
Katy Perry brought her grandmother as her date to the event. "I can't wait to go and do shots with you after this," Perry joked as she accepted her Spotlight Award onstage.
Best Shocking Performance: Chris Brown killed it on stage singing his hit song "Turn Up the Music." We may have not been impressed by the Chris Brown Grammy love fest, but the slick dance moves, bikers and an epic light show made the performance one of the night's most entertaining – he also took home the award for top R&B artist.
John Legend and Jordin Sparks paid tribute to Whitney Houston, and sung her hit “I Will Always Love You." Bobbi Kristina accepted the Millennium award on her mother’s behalf.
Alicia Keys honoured Stevie Wonder with Billboard’s Icon Award, teaming up with him for a medley of his hits “Higher Ground” and “Overjoyed.” Stevie celebrated his birthday last week and asked Alicia to sing “Empire State of Mind” as his birthday present.
